Cowes Week 2020 Cancelled

We share with many our great disappointment that Cowes Week has been cancelled. Cowes Week is an iconic event that brings lasting benefits to the local economy and community. Of course, we support the fact that public health must come first and that will always be our priority.

There is a concern among our members that if Cowes Week does not happen at all this year some people who habitually attend every year may 'get out of the habit' and not return in future years, badly impacting the local economy.

Among ideas we are discussing are: a smaller regatta (or series of smaller regattas) and/or a shoreside Festival-style event that celebrates all that's good about Cowes in a safe, socially distanced manner. The Cowes Business Association is very much ready to encourage and support the businesses of Cowes to make sure everyone is motivated, prepared and ready to put on the best version possible within the socially distanced guidelines. It's our belief that even a smaller regatta and/or shoreside event would help the local economy to bounce back from what otherwise will be a very challenging year.

We recognise that we are only as strong as our members make us. So please let us know your thoughts via Website forum or Email office@cowesbusiness.org.uk and watch this space!
