Business NewsLive Networking
Our first post-“Lockdown 3.0” real live event last night (25th May) was a full to (permitted) capacity affair and our members clearly were delighted to be networking in person again. Island Sailing Club provided an excellent venue with outside space, views and plenty of ventilation under the – as it turned out, essential – cover.
Chair Gavin Ford welcomed everyone and ran through the huge amount of activity the CBA is engaged in, including the banners and flags now going up, the high quality searchable directory listings available to members on the website and the opportunities to network that help build community as well as promote our businesses.
Gavin called out all the committee members present (Ann Binnie, Claire Lincoln, Rick Bull, Mike Cox and Christine Bustin) and reiterated how much work is put in to make things run smoothly and to help us all achieve the goals of the CBA.
Our newest committee member, Krissy Lloyd, introduced herself to the gathering and then the floor was open to anyone who wanted to tell us about their business. Many people were keen to share after so many restrictions! What was notable about those who did, apart from how many new businesses, both to Cowes and to the association, were present, was the strong underpinning of sustainability in either the purpose of the business itself or in the way the business operates.
Look out for our next event at the end of Sustainability June and for stories on our website and social media about how these and other member businesses are actively living commitment to sustainability.
